A handy Footnote to Patients About Podiatrists and Foot and Ankle Specialists

Why does your ankle sprain still hurt? You can always have foot and ankle pain because the injury has not fully reinstituted. Even though a sprain is different as a break, could be often more painful and will often take longer to get back. Many people report having foot and ankle pain for several weeks or months before fully recovering from a sprain. Although we can go about out daily routines; going to work, shopping, cooking etc, many times because the ankle has not fully recovered (shown by tenderness or swollenness) it leaves a larger percentage prospects for a second injury. Foot and ankle pain because of a sprained ankle in order to be treated just as seriously as if from a broken ankle.

So how do heading about recovering from a sprained ankle. Well, several most injuries, RICE is recommended, but only for the first 48 hours. Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation can reduce foot and ankle pain for the first two days as well as prevent swelling and aid in the procedure However after 48 hours RICE loses its effectiveness and your left simply with “R” – basically resting till the ankle heals itself. Most people (as I used to), simple judged their healing by how many normal things they might do. Yesterday they couldn’t go to work, today they could. Today it took you a while to walk up the stairs,, maybe in a few days it will be easier. Foot and ankle pain is just considered part of the healing process.

But now I prefer to take an extra proactive personal preference. Although rest is a fit part of recovery through the injury, rehabilitation is also very important. One does don’t start moving that ankle around, the muscles will become static, lose strength, and it will take longer get for you to you old self. I a nurse recommend massaging the ankle (firm rather than rough), stretching, and small exercises generate up electrical power. Although initially I resisted, thinking might only make my foot and ankle pain worse, she finally convinced me and Having been surprised in the amazing last! The idea is whenever you don’t push you to ultimately recover, your ankle will take the easy road just recover to a state of just what’s fundamental. I mean that if you can walk up an airplane of stairs, but absolutely feel the strain in your ankle, jeopardize your health . that you can walk up, but would it not be better if precisely what people run moving up?

That’s why when I sprained my ankle a few months ago, after the 48 hour resting period I immediately began exercising my ankle joint. Nothing stressful of course.maybe walking to the kitchen, returning to “draw invisible circles” with my big toe, standing on one foot, and other simple but painful work out plans. In just a few days I was walking and down stairs with little pain at the same time two weeks time I’m jogging for a second time. The ankle stayed swollen for a relatively good time however i continued with massages as well as the size eventually returned on track. Much faster recover than anything I read online.
